Orthodontics and Invisalign

Orthodontic treatment involves moving teeth to a better position to improve the appearance, function and general health of your mouth. Various appliances are used to apply gentle forces and these can treat a range of issues including:

  • Crooked or crowded teeth
  • Overly spaced teeth
  • Twisted teeth
  • Protruding teeth
  • Serious malocclusions (upper and lower teeth not biting together properly)

Here at Westcoast Dental, our dentist Dr Rebecca Williams, has completed training in the use of removable braces to straighten teeth in a safe and predictable way. These braces offer a cosmetic, more aesthetic alternative to fixed braces and typically have a shorter treatment time.

Invisalign

Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. It involves no brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.

Invisalign clear aligners are made of flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack® created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. Invisalign clear aligners contain no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten. They are thin, clear, and fit snugly over your teeth, making them virtually invisible.

Our dentist, Dr Rebecca Williams, will create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Your Invisalign clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. We will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.

Retainers

After any type of orthodontic treatment, you will need to wear a retainer to keep your newly straightened teeth in line. These retainers need to be worn for life.

Vivera Retainers

Vivera retainers are custom-made for you with the same state-of-the-art technology used to make Invisalign aligners. You benefit from a precise and comfortable fit.
Vivera’s proprietary material is 30% stronger than other leading clear retainer materials, thus helping to maintain your smile. It also reduces the risk of the retainer cracking or breaking, which means a more durable retainer that you can count on.
